On-Country Nyungar Culture and Identity Unit (INDS2003)

The Nyungar Culture and Identity Unit is an amazing opportunity for students studying in various disciplines at Curtin to join together and to learn more about and interact with Aboriginal people in Nyungar Country. The classroom experience transcends the typical four walls, where students go on-country and gain real world experience. The elective unit is delivered during mid-semester over seven days. You must be able to attend every day and you’ll be transported to and from various locations.

This unit is an elective unit worth 25 credit points.

See the details for the Nyungar Culture and Identity Unit in the Curtin Handbook.

Cultural Significance
Grad Cert

Indigenous Australian Cultural Studies (IACS) Graduate Certificate

Do you need further education to enhance your understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and its people. The Indigenous Australian Cultural Studies (IACS) Graduate Certificate offers students the opportunity to gain an understanding of the cultural diversity and ways of all Indigenous Australians.

The information delivered to students will build a strong foundation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people culture and attributes so there is a strong appreciation of how history and current policies impact these accepted structures.

This course is designed for graduates and eligible others that currently research, work, or intend to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in professional and community positions. An understanding of Indigenous issues on a national and local level is explored and this will provide a solid foundation for engaging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our units provide formal and practical delivery of information by staff that have strong cultural and relational practises. These are critical attributes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people cultural education and its delivery.
